Montafon Library

In the autumn of 2014, the library of Stand Montafon and the parochial library of Schruns were merged in the Montafon valley. The new location at “Haus Montafon” was inaugurated on 17 November 2014, extending over 250 square metres and boasting the perfectly complementary media collections of both libraries.

The sponsor of the new “Montafon Library”, Stand Montafon, an association of the ten municipalities of the Montafon valley, acts as the regional administrative body of the valley, assuming a variety of tasks in the areas of transport, economy, social affairs, culture and education. This investment in a collective public library for the entire valley is not only testimony to Stand Montafon’s political responsibility but also sends out a signal that, as the largest educational facilities apart from schools, public libraries offer all people access to media, culture, knowledge and creative thinking – no matter their social or educational background.

The Montafon Library offers a wide range of more than 19,000 items. Its catalogue (OPAC) can be accessed through the portal at www.biblioweb.at/montafon. You will need a library card to borrow anything from the Montafon Library. Just fill in a registration form to get one. Please note that children under the age of 14 require the signature of a legal guardian.
